Lab Description:
The Artificial Intelligence and Biomedical Informatics Lab (AIBL: https://aibl.snu.ac.kr/) at Seoul National University develops the latest AI fundamentals to state-of-the-art bioinformatics AI technologies, to train both Core (diffusion theory-based) AI + Biomedical (computational Imaging and 3D biostructure like protein/molecule-based) AI experts capable of publishing papers in world-renowned top AI conferences and bioinformatics AI journals. Our lab supports growth beyond the simple title of AI expert by developing advanced AI technologies applicable to medical and biomedical data, fostering development into professionals in medical AI.
The principal investigator of the lab, Professor Kyungsu Kim, is affiliated with the School of Transdisciplinary and Innovation (for General/Medical AI fields), the College of Medicine (Department of Medical Science), and the AI Graduate School at Seoul National University. Through a diverse collaborative network in medical and biomedical fields, the lab provides researchers with the opportunity to handle real-world medical data, not just publicly available datasets.
The development of medical AI, which involves dealing with patients' lives, has a higher level of difficulty and more restrictions on data access than general AI development, resulting in a high entry barrier. However, our lab has a systematic system in place to overcome these challenges. We welcome applications from individuals with passion and motivation who aspire to grow into AI technology experts capable of developing not only Core and Fundamental AI but also globally commercialized AI solutions in the medical field.
